An important Islamic jurisprudent principle which widely lends itself to the pronouncement of many jurisprudent acts - such as cleansing, trade, will, marriage, divorce, obligation, confession and intercession - is that of mutual avoidance of harms. The significance of this principle can be truly assessed by a careful look at the composition of the Prophet saying No harm and harming in Islam» and the domain of «negative harming» in Islam. In this respect, different opinions have been expressed by Imamiat jurisprudents, some of which have limited the application of this principle, hence, downgrading its value.
The present article is an attempt to assess the Prophet saying «No harm and harming in Islam via studying respective evidence and terminology. A note is also offered as to «disciplines».
